Tasks may include:
- Monitoring a “day room” (community room) at a basic needs program
- Enforcing rules
- Setting up the “help yourself table”
- Serving 45 people
- Sanitizing tables between clients
- Offering assistance
- Developing relationships
- Encouraging
- Listening
- Providing prayer
- Maintaining a safe judgement-free environment
- Cleaning at the end of the shift
- Breaking down
In order to volunteer, you should be:
- A registered UAServe volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven’t already)
- Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering
- Willing to submit a background check
- Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule
- Reliable
- Patient
- Honest
- Personable
- Open-minded
- Respectful
