Going Above and Beyond to Fill Bellies and Hearts

May 30, 2019 | UA News

Once a month, UAServe volunteer Jeanne Mucci heads to South Church in Hartford to help serve meals to children. Often, her husband joins her, too.

“I am enjoying the connections Urban Alliance helped facilitate last summer,” she explained. “I love how gracious and appreciative the students are that we get to serve. It’s a good match that we’re hoping to continue.”

Recently, the Muccis jumped to step in when a need arose.

“Jeanne was cooking our meal and she overheard a conversation about a family in need of food and a microwave,” shared South Church’s Moneca Liz. “Without being asked, she and her husband offered and brought a new microwave for this family and provided cooked meals because the mother of the house was in the hospital giving birth.”

Like many other UAServe volunteers, Jeanne goes above and beyond what she signed up to do. And because of it, she’s touching many lives in the process.
