Second Chances in Action: Mentoring to Support Successful Reentry

December 9 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

RESCHEDULED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER ON 12/2

Reentry into the community after incarceration presents unique challenges—and powerful opportunities for growth and transformation. Effective mentoring can make all the difference in helping returning citizens rebuild their lives, reconnect with their families, and achieve lasting stability.

This interactive training equips mentors, pastors and program staff with the knowledge and tools to provide trauma-informed, strengths-based support to men and women reentering society. Participants will explore the foundations of successful mentoring relationships, examine common barriers faced during reentry, and learn practical strategies for fostering trust, accountability, and empowerment.

Through guided discussions, real-life scenarios, and reflective exercises, participants will:

  • Understand the unique needs and experiences of individuals returning from incarceration.
  • Learn effective communication and boundary-setting techniques for mentoring relationships.
  • Identify strategies to build resilience, promote growth, and encourage action towards goals.
  • Develop action steps for integrating best practices into mentoring relationships.

By the end of the session, participants will leave with greater confidence, compassion, and clarity about how to mentor in ways that truly support successful reentry and long-term success.

Second Chance Mentors and Pastors will receive a $25 Amazon gift card!
