When youth and adults partner together, amazing things happen. Leadership development happens. Collaboration happens. Change happens.

Over the course of the last year, 14 youth ministry leaders from 6 local churches (House of Praise and WorshipGreater Joy Mission ChurchGlory Chapel International Cathedral, Restoring Lives, For His Glory Church Ministries, and Bible Way Temple Nation) engaged in Urban Alliance's Next Generation initiative through participation in World Vision's Youth Empowerment Institute (YEI), a two-day training that helped strengthen their capacity to partner with youth for community transformation.
As a result of the training and grant funding, these leaders partnered with youth at their churches for various community outreach efforts, including school uniform drives, food and toiletry provision for unsheltered individuals, a vacation Bible school for neighborhood children, and a program educating youth on the importance of abstinence.
And on October 10, each participating leader and church was recognized for their contribution to the community and commitments to the tenets of the YEI/Community Youth Development model at a YEI graduation event.

For the 2015-2016 year, 42 participants (including 22 youth) from 9 local churches and organizations (Hartford City MissionCitadel of LoveSouth ChurchFirst Church of Christ Wethersfield, Triumphant Church, House of Restoration Church, New Dimension Christian Center, Greater Joy Mission Church and Mt. Carmel Church of God) are participating in the Youth Empowerment Institute, which kicked off on October 16 and 17.

On January 14, 2016, all current and past participants in the Hartford Youth Empowerment Institute will meet together in an effort to network, share stories, encourage one another and learn about plans for community projects.
