PROGRAMS & MINISTRIES
The Restoring Lives Community Development Corporation is a private, Connecticut non-profit organization founded in 2007 that works to empower individuals, equip families and help transform the community.
The purpose of the organization is to provide services and promote coordination and cooperation between social services providers, churches, businesses, community members, and the educational system, in order to empower families and individuals to become more self-reliant, responsible and resourceful.
RLCDC stemmed from House of Restoration Churchs mandate and desire to address community needs through a wide range of services available to the entire community, irrespective of religious affiliation. With an original focus on the Hispanic faith community, which has for the past 14 years shifted towards a broader cultural and linguistic constituency, House of Restoration Church has been serving the city of Hartford for the past 55 years.
Its community enrichment arm, RLCDC, has developed an array of programs that equip families, individuals and youth to become more self-reliant, responsible and resourceful. Since 2000, the organization has partnered with the CT Dept. of Children and Families to implement the QEM, Queen Esther Foster Care & Adoption Services, providing basic management and retention support for families with foster or adopted children. Likewise, Teen Venture and the separate summer program, Explorers & Teen Quest, focus on developing educational and workforce development skills for teens. The summer program provides community service, computer literacy and recreational activities to youth ranging from 5 to 15 years old. In tune with providing safe, healthy alternatives for youth and families the Precious Stones Child Development Center opened in 2010 to provide care and early childhood education to 31 children in 2012. Most recently, as part of the Leadership Foundation Mentoring program, RLCDC has partnered with Congregation Lion of Judah to recruit and support mentoring matches for children impacted by incarceration, delinquency, poverty and academics.
